stirring the ribbons on your travel-hat
and soon you will be summoned
ALL ABOARD!
Sophie consents at last, and blesses you.
How painful these last moments!
vineyard – and tumbril – weigh
upon your lonely sacrifice, as France recedes
and Indians call in language quite unknown;
but very soon they’ll know you through and through,
Woman who always prays! Pray then for us; we too
bring the essential from our heritage
leaving the rest, as we set sail
for new life, a new land.

añadido a tu sacrificio, a solas, mientras Francia queda atrás
y los Indios te llaman en una lengua desconocida,
pero pronto te conocerán a fondo
¡Mujer que siempre rezas! Reza por nosotros; también nosotros
llevamos lo esencial de nuestra herencia
dejando el resto atrás, al navegar
hacia una nueva vida y una tierra nueva.

emportons l’essentiel de notre héritage
en abandonnant le reste, alors que nous embarquons
pour une nouvelle vie, une nouvelle terre.
